Laser hair removal is a procedure to remove unwanted body hair. People may want the treatment on their underarms, back or bikini area. It’s not permanent, but the results last longer than shaving or waxing. Most people need about six treatments.

Resurfacing

Laser Hair Removal Aftercare

Here are some things to consider after laser hair removal:  

  • Avoid sun exposure: Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least a month after treatment. You can apply sunscreen to the treated area after that.  

  • Avoid hot water: Avoid hot baths, showers, steam baths, and saunas for at least a week after treatment.  

  • Avoid exercise: Avoid exercise for at least 24–48 hours after treatment. Sweat and friction can cause irritation, blisters, and rashes.  

  • Avoid hair removal products: Avoid waxing, epilating, threading, or bleaching your hair between treatments.  

  • Avoid exfoliation and peels: Avoid exfoliating or peels for at least a week after treatment.  

  • Avoid tight clothing: Avoid wearing tight clothing after treatment.  

  • Avoid makeup: Avoid wearing makeup on the treated area for at least 48 hours after treatment.  

  • Keep the area clean: Use a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water to wash the treated area.  

  • Apply aloe vera or cortisone cream: Apply aloe vera gel or cortisone cream to soothe and calm the skin.  

  • Apply a cold compress: Apply a cold compress to the treated area to reduce swelling and discomfort.  

  • Stay hydrated: Stay hydrated to keep your skin soft and healthy.
